The Eco Club and The Environment Society of the college, under the Environment Education Program, State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council For Science and Technology, Ministery of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt of India organised a rally on "GREEN DIWALI" on 29 October 2024. The principal Mrs. Pardeep Kaur made the society and the students aware about the hazards of crackers and to motivate them to celebrate the festival of lights as Green Diwali. A visit to Pt. Mohan Lal Global School was also made on this eve. The students made the posters and charts emphasizing the celebration in a healthy way. The students made rangoli with natural or kitchen ingredients and also took a pledge to protect our environment.


As per the directions of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Director of NSS, Chandigarh, the college organised the "Swachta Hi Seva" compaign 2024 in which the N.S.S unit of the college organised Poster Making, Rangoli and Mehndi competitions based on the theme of Swachta Hi Seva Hai. The N.S.S unit also visited the adopted village "Thatha" and organised a cleanliness Drive of the Sports Stadium and made the people aware about the Cleanliness and Hygiene.

 

The college organised trip to Shri Anandpur Sahib and Chandigarh. On the first day of the trip the students visited GGDSD College, Chandigarh and explored the college departments and library. The college Management Dr. P.K Bajaj and Sh. Jatinder Bhatia from GGDSD College Society welcomed and interacted with the Students.




It is a proud moment for the college that our Student Sukhmanpreet Kaur from 3rd Semester has got Third Position in the Elocution Contest at G.N.D.U B Zone Youth Festival. The Principal Mrs. Pardeep kaur congratulated the student and the entire team for preparing for the competition.

 


The College organised the "30 Days Environment Challenge".This challenge was initiated by the National Edu Trust, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, Govt. of India activities based on the Water Waste, recycle and reuse, how to save Natural resources, DIY Composed,Good eating habits.This initiative was taken to make the students aware about adopting a way of life that is friendly to the planet Earth and the Environment.


The N.S.S Unit and the Youth Club of the College organised an Extension Lecture on "Moral Values" in which the Resource Persons S. Dilbag Singh (Lecturer of Sehaj Path Sewa, Sri Amritsar Sahib) and S. Gurwinder Singh Ji motivated the students to adopt moralistic way of life by respecting the Parents and by following the path of virtue.They sighted the examples of Bhagat Puran Singh Ji and Principal Sahib Singh Ji and said that we all must walk on the footsteps of these great personalities for the welfare of the Society and self.



On 13 September 2024, the Commerce Department of the college organised an Extension Lecture on "Investor Awareness Program" in which the Resource Person Prof. Bhagwant Singh, Teacher Educator at DIET, Gurdaspur and Amritsar having 10 years experience as the Principal and is Resource Person of SEBI since 2016, made the students aware about Financial planning, investment-decisions and risk factors of investing in Stock exchange i.e. mutual funds etc.



The N.S.S unit of the college along with the team from Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Churian organised an Extension Lecture on "How to Prevent the Spread Of Dengue and Malaria" in which S.Davinder Singh (MPHS) and S. Rajinder Singh (MPHW) along with their team made the students aware about the disease of Dengue and Malaria - How these spread and what measures should be taken to prevent them. They also threw light on the treatment of these diseases. This has been done under the movement "Har Shukarvar Dengue te Vaar".

The Eco Club and The Environment Society of the college celebrated, The Van Mahotsav with the theme "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam"- tree plantation drive . The aim of the drive is to keep the campus clean and green and to create awareness among the students regarding the importance of natural resources and trees . The principal Mrs. Pardeep Kaur , members of management Sh.Gorakhnath ji, Mrs.Varinder Kaur Principal Pt. Mohan Lal Global School and Mr.Shiv from S.D College Gurdaspur participated in this drive.


The Commerce Department of the college in Collaboration with Mutual Funds Association of India organized a National Webinar on "Wealth Creation Through Financial Planning "  in which Mr. Suryakant Sharma ,Chief Advisor AMFI and Ex- DGM of SEBI was the Resource Person. The webinar started with the introductory note by the Convenor Dr. Ruchi Kohli. The Principal Mrs Pardeep Kaur welcomed the Resource Person Mr. Suryakant Sharma. After that, Mr. Sharma made the students aware about the importance of saving in our life and how the same can be invested in various sectors for profit purpose. He also threw light on the various schemes by the Government for Girls. It was a very informative and enriching lecture .Interactive session was also there to answer the queries of the participants.
